KVH (KOPRI Virtual Herbarium)
KOPRI Virtual Herbarium (KVH) is the electronic gateway to the collections of the KOPRI Herbarium.
The goals of the KVH are to make specimen data (e.g., specimen images, collecting information, distribution, DNA sequence data, etc.),
electronically available for use in biodiversity research projects in the Arctic, Antarctica, and their adjacent continents;
to reduce shipping of physical specimens for projects where digital representations will suffice;
and to reunite data elements (e.g., photographs and drawings, manuscripts, published works, microscopic preparations, DNA sequence data),
derived from a specimen with the catalog record.
The digital collections of the KVH, comprising approximately 700 herbarium specimens and 500 high-resolution specimen images, are updated weekly with the goal of digitizing the entire 3,000 algal, moss and plant specimens.
