CTD tow-yo data for hydrothermal plume survey along a mid-ocean ridge, 2013

The dataset contains optical backscatter and oxidation-reduction potential signals along with conventional temperature, salinity, and pressure data, collected during tow-yo survey over a mid-ocean ridge. Because hydrothermal plumes typically carry turbid and/or reduced compounds (H2S, Fe2+), it is proven that optical backscatter and oxidation-reduction potentials sensors are very effective in hydrothermal plume detection. These sensors, attached to a CTD, can be towed along/cross a mid-ocean ridge to map the distribution of hydrothermal plumes.
