Chromosome-scale genome sequence of the Antarctic icefish Champsocephalus gunnari

Antarctic icefish have evolved to survive in a harsh environment. They have lost hemoglobin and erythrocytes to adapt to extremely cold conditions. The genome sequence of the Antarctic fish will reveal the history of adaptation to the cold and harsh environment of the Southern Ocean through comparative genome analysis.
