Quantitative error information for satellite-based sea ice concentration (OSI SAF vs Landsat-8)
Quantitative error statistics for OSI SAF Level-2 sea ice concentration retrieved from AMSR2 observations using the hybrid algorithm were obtained through comparison with Landsat-8-derived sea ice concentration. Root-mean-square error (RMSE), bias, correlation coefficients, and sample sizes are provided for 12 Arctic regions, three seasons, and sea ice concentration bins of 10 percentage points. These statistics are based on a total of 181,667 matched data pairs spanning July 2021 to November 2022.
